Installing QT in Maya 2012 - Overview

Getting QT and PtQt working with Maya 2012 can be troublesome, but this is a light weight tutorial on how to set it up, as well as how to download and build it from source if you want to go the extra bit.

Installing QT in Maya 2012 - 32 Bit Version

You can download the complied 32 bit version HERE (Thanks to Robert Kist for the link)

Once its downloaded and installed, goto the installed directory (by defualt its C:\Python26) and you should see a folder there called "Lib", and another one within that called "site-packages". Copy this the folder and file within this one, should be a file called "sip.pyd" and a folder called "PyQt4" and paste these file and folder into the C:\\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya 2012\Python\lib\site-packages\ folder, or similar based off where you installed Maya 2012.

Thats it, PyQt should now work within Maya 2012, but to be sure, run this small test script to ensure it's all working, and remeber to restart Maya once the files have been copied over. The script should print out "Qt is working fine" otherwise Maya can not find Qt.

from PyQt4 import *
import maya.cmds as cmds

print "Qt is working fine"

Installing QT in Maya 2012 - 64 Bit Version

You can download the complied 64 bt version HERE (Thanks to Nathan Horne for the link)

Once its downloaded and installed, goto the installed directory (by defualt its C:\Python26_64) and you should see a folder there called "Lib", and another one within that called "site-packages".
